Fabric Scissors

Most kids ages 8-14 do great with the Fiskars student sewing scissors.  They are low cost compared to really good fabric scissors (which will last a lifetime if you take care of them).  I would expect the Fiskars to last 1-2 years of classes as long as they take care of them.  Amazon Link

I’ve also had good luck with another style with titanium blades that comes in a 3 pack and a variety of colors.  They will only need one so if you don’t need the other 2, try to find the medium size by itself.  The middle size is a bit big for the 8-9 year olds but they are able to use them.  The smallest one in the group is not for cutting fabric so that isn’t an option for this purpose. They will probably not last as long as the fiskars but should last 1 year at least.  Amazon Link

Either one of the above should work great.  Save your $ and get one of these good (not great) scissors and wait until later in their journey to get an amazing pair.  When testing them to see if they will fit your child, try to have them cut something fabric, not paper.
